<\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\nA celebration of joy: First Communion in Maria Plain<\/h2>\n\n
On Mother’s Day, we were able to celebrate a very special celebration of faith: ten of our classmates celebrated their Holy First Communion! The children were all full of anticipation and had prepared very well in advance. The wonderful motto of this Sunday was: “What is most important today?” and the deep, clear answer to that was: “Jesus and I.” <\/p>\n\n
It was a beautiful, solemn Holy Mass in the pilgrimage church of Maria Plain. For this special occasion, there was also a wonderful surprise: the Stella Vienna choir traveled especially to attend and provided musical accompaniment at the highest level. A very heartfelt thank you to Vienna for this wonderful gift. <\/p>\n\n Also in May, we were able to celebrate an atmospheric May devotion. With traditional and joyful songs, communal prayers, and solemnly recited intercessions, we honored the Mother of God, Mary. It was a very special joy for us that some parents and grandparents also accepted our invitation and prayed and celebrated with us. <\/p>\n\n After the children in 2nd grade had diligently given presentations on the topic “My favorite animal” in science class, a great idea emerged through Theresa R.: she wanted to share her presentation topic “Dogs” not only theoretically but also very practically with the class. Thankfully, her aunt, Mrs. Petra R., then visited us together with her dog Milo. In addition to lots of exciting information, the children were allowed to feed Milo, brush him, walk him on a leash, and pet him. It was particularly wonderful to see how carefully the children lost their shyness and got closer and closer to the four-legged friend. A truly great experience for all of us! <\/p>\n\n Things continued just as fascinatingly in the musical realm when we were able to welcome special guests: with two professional musicians, Mag. Barbara Chemelli on the flute and Johanna Kaiser on the violin, as well as the professional pianist Mag. Adrian Suciu, the children immersed themselves deeply in the world of classical music. The students hummed along very quietly to the familiar notes from the opera “The Magic Flute.” <\/p>\n\n On top of that, everyone had the opportunity to learn more about the instruments: they learned about the differences between various flutes and were allowed to try them out themselves. They were also informed in a child-friendly way about the structure and special features of the violin and were even allowed to play their first notes. We thank our guests from the bottom of our hearts for this tremendous enrichment! <\/p>\n\n We were able to experience what we had learned shortly afterward on a grand scale: a few days later, we visited a performance of “The Magic Flute” at the world-famous Mozarteum together! All the children had tremendous fun seeing the piece live on the big stage and it was an unforgettable experience for the entire school community. <\/p>\n\n The big wide world currently fascinates our older students in 3rd and 4th grade. As part of getting to know the different continents, the students were allowed to present their very own “favorite place” or “favorite country.” Our shared journey took us from New York to South Tyrol, we visited Israel, Austria, Spain, Italy, Germany, Romania, Dubai, and the Dominican Republic. The children designed their posters completely independently and enthusiastically talked about sights and travel experiences. Stella Salzburg now definitely has quite a few new, inspiring destinations on the list! \ud83d\ude00<\/p>\n\n Every other Monday, we start the new week together as an entire school community with our social hour. Here we deal with topics that are important for respectful interaction. Through our “mailbox” in the teachers’ lounge, the children can anonymously submit concerns or wishes, which we then address together through games and exercises. <\/p>\n\n In May, the focus was on respectful interaction with each other, but also with our environment (see photo “My Environment”). In keeping with environmental protection, a two-week campaign ran: the children could collect points diligently if they came to school on foot or by bus and paid particularly good attention to waste separation! <\/p>\n\n The children regularly write in their personal diaries with us. This special notebook belongs to them alone, it is neither corrected nor checked. This creates a protected space for thoughts and feelings. Whether weekend experiences or difficult everyday situations: the children reflect on themselves here and learn to put their inner world into words. This strengthens both the joy of writing and self-confidence. <\/p>\n\n The principles of “Leader in Me” accompany us daily. This month, the picture book “I am different from you – I am like you” helped us see differences as enrichment. <\/p>\n\n In early April, grades 2 through 4 participated in the international English competition “The Big Challenge” to prove their skills. Now the results are in and we are absolutely speechless: all the children did fantastically and our school performed above average! A very special congratulations goes to our student Giorgina F., who sensationally became the state champion of all of Salzburg! We are incredibly proud of you! <\/p>\n\n On May 13, 2026, the cycling test for our “older students” from 4th grade took place. The children prepared diligently in recent weeks both at school and at home. With great concentration and care, they mastered the practical and theoretical test with flying colors. We warmly congratulate all the kids on their well-deserved bicycle license and wish them safe travels at all times! <\/p>\n\n Spring has brought plenty of momentum our way!
